We have more piglets! Finally...didn't think Bacon would ever deliver! But man did she ever deliver. Seven perfect little piglets, five males and two females. To top it all off, we got babies that look just like Dad! Apparently, Dad is really good at making boys. Five from the first litter (one we lost) and five from the second litter. So far, we have decided to keep Bacon and, after Ham weans her piglets, have Ham butchered. We are rolling in pork!

WE GOT PIGLETS!!! I think Ham's only going to have the five and we are waiting on Bacon to go into labor. Ham is turning out to be a great mom so far, except for the occassional piglet getting stepped on, squished, or shoved around by Mom. I'll get pics of the new piglets and post them as soon as Bacon delivers.

I just had to put these pics on the blog. I taught Sean how to hang laundry and he just looked so adorable in my clothespin apron and Austin's slippers. Then there's this other studly pic, which helps me redeem myself for posting the apron pics which will embarrass the snot out of him. I love you Sean!
WE HAVE MORE CHICKS!!! In the last 48 hours, we have had six new chicks hatch. We are waiting on the last egg to hatch, not sure when that will be. We have three black, two yellow and one really gorgeous brown. We have another hen setting on six eggs and will report when those come. We are so excited!

My nephew, Sean, is here visiting from Florida and is having a ball. We are teaching him the intricate art of country living and he loves it and can't wait to move here and live at a slower pace. He has to wait until he's grown up though..like he's not grown enough! He loves horses and wants to check into farrier school and possibly work for himself, which is a great thing in today's society. He helped make the bird pool in the bird sanctuary and was really proud when he got to back the truck in with the water tank to fill it up. Here he is on Smarty. His favorite is Cisco, though. We will ride again tomorow morning. Maybe I'll post more pics after that.

We have chicks!! Well, one anyway..the others are due anytime now. We had one that was just ready to pop. I got a little excited with the zoom feature on my camera and the pic came out blurry, but you get the idea. The setting hen is not the momma but will be a great surrogate. The other pic is of my lazy indoor critters, Sissy, Tani and Samuel. They sleep together all the time!

Well, we now have several more animals and more on the way. We just got four new kittens from a neighbor. Then, a few days later at the feed store, we fell in love with a mommy kitty and four kittens. So, now we have Milly, Callie, Sasha, Sheila, Michael, Tiffany, Gracie, and two unnamed little girls. We also just bought a boar who came with the name, Oscar. We are expecting two litters of piglets at the end of July. We also have 13 eggs under a momma chicken and expect them to hatch at the end of this month, beginning of May..somewhere in there. We are still looking for a horse for Caitlyn so that the kids and I can ride together. We finally got the runaway dog situation under control for the time being. We took the two smallest, Lolly and Pop, down to Carl's Mom's in Chino. We held onto Hershey and Daisy and they seem to be doing fine being left out. They haven't left once. My nephew, Sean, will be here next weekend, for my birthday, and is expected to stay with us for several weeks. We will be putting his little behind to work, let me tell ya! The weather is awesome right now with the nights a little chilly but not enough for a heater and the days are warm enough, we can open the doors for some fresh air. We are hoping to install a deck on the house next month and will have Carl's Dad, Riley, here to help us. We also have to build a shelter for the horses and (say your prayers!) a huge storage building. Oh, and of course, two new pens for the sows to have their litters of piglets. Whew, what a life!

I have tried, in vain, to add pics to the latest post. I keep receiving error upon error and have just given up. Sorry folks. I will try again later. Lots of great snow pics too!
We finally got snow!!! We had a good snow and then it melted off during the day. But we had another storm come through and it snowed for two days. The kids have sure had a lot of fun. Carl, on the other hand, had to go to work. Fortunately, his employer has a deal with the hotel across I-40 which entitles employees to a $25 room rate during the snow season. Carl is sharing the room with Mike, our friend who just started at SCA. Carl called me this morning to tell me that they are now getting their room today AND tomorrow for free since they helped an elderly couple into their room. Apparently, the battery went dead on the card reader on their door and the woman couldn't get to her medication. The fire department wanted $1000 to bust down the door and they couldn't get a locksmith out. Carl and Mike just happened to have their tools with them and they dismantled the door, with the hotel manager's permission of course. What a life!
